Our Partnership with The Scotsman

Simply Scottish Media forged links with Scotland's most prominent newspaper, The Scotsman, in 2001. For over a century, The Scotsman has provided the people of Scotland with news and information, and now we bring that Scottish content to Simplyscottish.com. In March, 2001, Simplyscottish.com was included in the Heritage channel of Scotsman.com's "Guide to Useful Sites on the Web". Simplyscottish.com is also featured as a favorite site in Scotsman.com's 

Webfeeds Showcase.

The Internet's First Scottish News Feeds

As you'll probably know by now, Simplyscottish.com strives to present Scotland in a respectful constitutional light. No Scottish website would be complete without current Scottish news and headlines. While preparing to add a newsfeed to Simplyscottish.com, we found out that we had two options - 1) Tolerate a generic "U.K." newsfeed that included sporadic Scottish news, or 2) Use a customized feed with the keyword "Scotland" and put up with a mix-and-match of stories from all sorts of sources around the world.

Neither of these options appealed to us, so we broke new ground.

In March of 2001, we contacted Scotland's most prominent newspaper, The Scotsman, and explained to them that we were looking for a newsfeed designed to feature Scottish news - news exclusively about the country of Scotland. We worked with the content team at Scotsman.com on an experimental basis, letting them know the types of Scottish news we were looking for, and in what formats.
Simplyscottish.com were the first website to work with The Scotsman to create such a newsfeed - the first newsfeed of its kind ever on the world wide web!
About two months later, the Scotsman.com team, working on our suggestions and guidance, came up with a web-based newsfeed service using the stories from their newspaper.
Simplyscottish.com began to integrate newsfeeds from The Scotsman into its pages on May 11th, 2001, and was the first website on the internet to do so. The newsfeeds now enhance Simplyscottish.com with Scottish news from a Scottish perspective, and from Scotland's largest daily newspaper!
Simplyscottish.com is all about the promotion of Scotland, and these newsfeeds will only serve to enhance our website's current and future content.
